Scottish tech firms link up to enhance care

Enabling proactive service delivery with transformational partnership

Glasgow-based digital innovator Archangel has announced a partnership with Rainbow Sensors, based in Dundee, that could transform and improve the lives of individuals living within a range of care settings.

The agreement will see the integration of Rainbow Sensors’ care sensor technologies with Archangel’s Ambient Assisted Living platform to deliver actionable, data-driven, proactive insights for their customers.

This collaboration delivers solutions that can be applied across the entire care system, from homecare and grouped living to residential care, and provides real-time insights into individual wellbeing, property conditions and environmental factors.

Rainbow Sensors distributes a wide range of unobtrusive IoT (Internet of Things) sensors aimed at care services across the UK, whilst Archangel seamlessly connects and aggregates data from the latest digital and IoT technologies into an advanced platform. This enables service providers to assess data holistically and respond proactively to any health and care issues that might arise for individuals.

Harry MacLean, co-founder of Rainbow Sensors, explained: “We are delighted to be linking up with Archangel. Their innovative platform is a ‘best fit’ solution for the care and housing industries that we focus on.

“At Rainbow Sensors, we are committed to the wellbeing of individuals in care settings, carefully considering both their sensitivities and risks. Our unobtrusive sensor technologies enable residents to live independent, fulfilling lives whilst offering peace of mind to loved ones and care providers. We prioritise dignity, privacy and autonomy in everything we do.

“Many people feel uncomfortable with cameras in their living spaces due to privacy concerns, the potential for surveillance, and a sense of loss of control over their personal environment and daily activities.

“Our sensors are designed to be energy-efficient and reduce environmental impact and operational costs. This allows care facilities to improve residents’ quality of life while promoting sustainability and a joint approach to financial wellbeing and fuel poverty reduction,” added Harry.

Brian Brown, Director of Business Development at Archangel, commented: “This is a broad partnership and reseller agreement that will involve Rainbow Sensors reselling Archangel’s platform and building interfaces (APIs) for their wide range of IoT sensors.

“Rainbow Sensors is committed to revolutionising the care industry with the latest smart technology that shifts the emphasis from reactive to proactive care and prevention, ultimately delivering safety and security for individuals in their living environment.

“This really is a meeting of minds that reinforces the rapid progress being made in unobtrusive, ambient, digital care that ultimately empowers individuals in their own environments,” added Brian.
