RLDatix Announces Successful Go-Live of Smart Match AI

by Leah

RLDatix, a global leader in healthcare workforce management, patient safety, and compliance software, announced the successful go-live of Smart Match at The Connected Health and Care Summit 2026. The milestone marks a significant step forward in applying artificial intelligence to the workforce challenges facing health and care organisations.

Smart Match is an AI-powered capability that automatically generates targeted shift offer notifications, including urgent and very urgent bank duties. Rather than broadcasting to all available workers, Smart Match uses AI-driven predictions to identify the workers most likelyto accept a given shift, drawing on each individual's booking history, preferences, and past behaviour to ensure notifications are relevant, timely, and personalised. The result: the right shifts reach the right people, faster.

Health and care organisations across the UK are facing significant workforce shortages alongside increasing pressure to reduce agency spend, improve organisational productivity, and enhance the overall worker experience. Smart Match was developed to address these challenges directly, with four core goals:
• Increased bank fill rates and reduced cancellations
• Spend reduction through reduced agency reliance
• Time savings for administrative teams managing duty fulfilment
• Improved worker experience and workflows

The solution was developed in close partnership with customers, who played an active role in shaping its design, validating outputs, and driving successful implementation across multiple staff groups, including Nursing, Medical, and non-clinical roles.

Early results from the pilot are highly encouraging. Within a cohort of already high- performing organisations, February data showed the following outcomes:

  • Bank Fill: Bank-filled duties increased by up to 20%.
  • Bank Worker Utilisation: Overall utilisation increased by up to 17%.
  • Improved Productivity: Smart Match significantly reduced reliance on manual email alerts for urgent shifts, decreasing administrative burden and the risk of communication delays.

Denise Rotchell, representing The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, described the operational impact: “Smart Match supports our Out of Hours team with filling short notice requests and there is less need for manual intervention from them.”

Worker response has been equally positive. Self-booking increased by up to 26%, and one bank worker from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust shared their experience:

“I was so impressed with how easy it was, and it was reassuring to know that the system had checked my availability prior to notifying me. I think this is a wonderful idea as it means you’re not looking constantly for shifts on Loop frightened you will miss some.”

Barbara Staruk, Chief Product Officer at RLDatix, commented: “We have already seen very encouraging results from Smart Match in our pilot customers, results that demonstrate a material financial and staff satisfaction impact to the NHS. Smart Match is now being rolled out to more than 200 UK customers. This is just the start of our AI journey, and we look forward to bringing even more AI-driven value across our workforce management, safety, and compliance platforms in the weeks and months to come.”

RLDatix will continue working with its early adopter customers to monitor and track Smart Match’s impact over time as the rollout to its broader UK customer base progresses.
