Bloom Diagnostics to mark opening by enabling consumers to try smart testing for a range of conditions first-hand
SWITZERLAND: Swiss medtech company Bloom Diagnostics has, today, opened its first-ever flagship store at a busy pedestrian zone in Zurich, Switzerland. The store launch will see consumers avail of free smart-testing, which can help detect a range of serious conditions. Bloom Diagnostics is an innovative medtech company that has developed a smart diagnostic system for a wide range of medical fields, tests range from ferritin levels in the blood to assess anemia and iron deficiency to TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) or AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) levels and many more in the future.
To kick off the launch, Bloom Diagnostics Co-founder and Chairperson Angelica Kohlmann, MD PhD will deliver a short presentation on the company’s mission on making healthcare more accessible as well as Bloom Diagnostics plans for the next 12 months. The Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Thomas Kupper will highlight the advantages of the Bloom System and introduce the future product portfolio. The store, which is located on Fortunagasse 11, will allow consumers to test and purchase the Bloom Lab, a smart electronic reader that provides users access to a range of at-home, or self-tests, thereby reducing pressure on GPs and healthcare systems.
The Bloom System currently offers a finger prick ferritin home test kit which provides a quick on-the-spot result in ten minutes and delivers personal insights on ferritin levels directly on users’ smartphones. According to the WHO, anemia is affecting around 30 percent of non-pregnant women worldwide, with approximately half of these cases estimated to be caused by a lack of iron. In addition to this, Johns Hopkins Medicine states that the most common cause of anemia worldwide is iron deficiency. Women who are menstruating, as well as anyone that may be regularly losing blood, such as those suffering from some gastrointestinal diseases, can help detect any irregularities from testing ferritin levels at home. The Bloom System also has a number of additional testing models in the pipeline, including AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) which estimates women’s individual ovarian reserve as an ancillary screen of fertility, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) which reflects the thyroid status in the blood and screens for primary hypothyroidism.
