Digital health technology provider 2iC-Care has announced a manufacturing agreement with Sony Technology Centre UK that will help the care sector to overcome longstanding supply challenges with technology-enabled-care.
Sony UK Technology Centre, in Pencoed South Wales, will begin manufacturing the digital healthcare provider’s ‘Andi’ hubs in a groundbreaking agreement which will help to mitigate mounting pressure on health and care services in the UK.
The Andi hubs collect and share data and insights into aspects of a person’s environment and behaviour that might affect their health and wellbeing. Sharing the information in real-time with care professionals means that interventions can be made before issues worsen or hospitalisation is needed.
For several years, supply challenges have threatened the ability of many care providers to reliably provide technology-enabled-care to people who need it.
Now, thanks to the new manufacturing agreement, 2iC-Care’s technology-enabled-care can be reliably delivered at-scale to local authorities and care providers – helping more people to stay at home with independence and peace of mind.
The manufacturing of the Andi hubs at Sony UK Technology Centre will provide reassurance for care services and local authorities that their care services are reliably manufactured in the UK and in-line with robust policies to reduce the environmental impact of manufacture.
Richard Keyse, CEO and Founder, 2iC-Care said:
“We are delighted to announce our manufacturing agreement with the world-leading Sony UK Technology Centre.
This move is much more than just a technicality – it will allow us to manufacture Andi hubs at unprecedented scale, supporting vital sustainability for the future of technology-enabled care.
With Sony UK Technology Centre’s expertise, state-of-the-art facility and adaptable supply chain solutions, we cannot wait to see what we can achieve together for the hundreds of thousands of people who use technology-enabled-care services to remain safe and well at home.”
Rob Wilson, Managing Director of Sony UK TEC, said:
“We are delighted to begin this journey as the manufacturing partner for 2iC-Care. Their mission to provide solutions for the wellbeing of our society aligns with our goal to build a sustainable future for all. Our agreement is testament to the power of the spirit of fostering innovation, and to the highly skilled workforce that South Wales has to offer.”
