Data migration and interoperability firm ReStart appoints Lynette Ousby as CEO

NHS data management and interoperability company ReStart has appointed former Alcidion and EMIS director Lynette Ousby as its first ever chief executive officer.

Lynette will work closely with ReStart’s founder and current managing director Mike Symers, who will become executive chairman as part of a strengthened senior leadership team.

Ousby’s immediate priority will be to increase the company’s presence and brand recognition in the marketplace, building on its strong track record of delivering rapid benefits to clinicians and patients throughout the NHS. She will also focus on developing new strategic partnerships with NHS organisations and commercial vendors, as well as enhancing ReStart’s wider consultancy offer to reflect national Frontline Digitisation priorities and ICS digital strategies.

Founded in 2003, ReStart provides data migration, archiving and interoperability solutions for the NHS. It currently works with more than 40 trusts across the UK, supporting them with a range of data challenges, including major EPR deployments and optimisation work.

Its flagship product, IMX IR, enables NHS organisations to bring together archived and live data from across multiple clinical systems in a single, user-friendly interface, which can be uniquely tailored to meet the user’s needs. In one trust, the tool has successfully brought together 40 different clinical systems through one simple, interoperable platform requiring a single log-in.

This is accompanied by IMX Archive, which provides a fast and effective data archiving solution to support system migration. The tool can again be fully customised to ensure clinicians retain full access to a patient’s medical history during and after the deployment of a new clinical system. Read this case study illustrating how the IMX Archive supported Devon Partnership Trust’s migration to a new EPR.

Last year, the company also launched IMX MH Outcomes, a first-of-its-kind data tool developed with South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust which uses patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) to detect signs of early deterioration in mental health patients.

Lynette Ousby, chief executive officer of ReStart, said:

“In my career, I’ve seen how interoperability and data migration issues can make or break clinical IT systems. Over the past two decades, ReStart has accumulated a vast wealth of experience in helping NHS organisations get this right. As the latest wave of EPR procurement subsides and people’s thoughts turn to the tricky business of implementation, I’m excited about the role we can play – not just through our products, but also through the advice and cumulative wisdom we can offer.

“Similarly, the NHS is barely scratching the surface when it comes to releasing the full value of insights buried in disparate or neglected datasets. As IMX MH Outcomes shows, ReStart is well-placed to work with our NHS customers to create a new generation of fully customised, clinically-designed data tools that can extract these hidden gems. The potential to enhance services and improve patient outcomes is breathtaking – and we want to be at the heart of it.”

Mike Symers, executive chairman of ReStart said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Lynette as our new CEO. Her experience and business acumen will help ReStart take the next step in its development, positioning us at the heart of the NHS’s digitisation plans. She also passionately believes in the same principle that has sustained this business over the last 20 years – the desire to work in an open, collaborative way with the NHS to develop innovative solutions that genuinely make a difference. With so much opportunity to do amazing things with data, that’s hugely exciting for the future.”
