LONDON, UK – 25th FEBRUARY 2025 – Wireless Logic, a leading global Internet of Things (IoT) solutions provider, today announces that Cubbie, a provider of immersive, multi-sensory spaces, has chosen its IoT core network Conexa to connect existing and new Cubbie hubs installed in schools, hospitals, libraries and other locations. Conexa is already improving connectivity uptime for the hubs and will eventually support streamlined manufacturing, distribution processes and advanced data analytics.
A Cubbie is an immersive, multi-sensory space designed principally to help those with neurodivergence including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and social behavioural emotional wellbeing needs. Local councils, education authorities and healthcare providers in the UK and Republic of Ireland are among customers of the self-contained, compact wheelchair-accessible hubs.
Resilient connectivity is essential to ensure Cubbies stay online, enabling their cloud-based software to deliver personalised programmes tailored to each person’s sensory profile. The Cubbie network (powered by Wireless Logic) allows people to access their individualised programmes at any location, with occupational therapists overseeing their progress.
“Sound, light and other sensory inputs can be overwhelming for people with sensory processing difficulties; they can even cause pain,” said David McIntyre, inventor and founder of Cubbie. “Cubbie’s software-driven technology links schools and other sites with sensory integration experts so children and adults with neurodivergence, sensory stress or anxiety can positively engage in education and other daily activities, rather than being excluded. Our research shows that Cubbie hubs can reduce anxiety and encourage participation in less than 15 minutes.”
Conexa, Wireless Logic’s globally distributed IoT core network, is purpose-built for scalability and maximum uptime required by critical IoT applications. The SIM in each Cubbie uses multi-IMSI technology, enabling seamless switching between mobile network operators (MNOs) for resilient coverage without requiring physical access to units or SIM replacement.
“As we expand to serve more communities, we need robust IoT connectivity that won’t let us down,” added McIntyre. “Wireless Logic is an expert partner helping us deliver our vision for a more inclusive world. We prioritised sites where we had experienced the most inconsistent connectivity to switch to Conexa and have already seen a massive improvement.”
“Cubbie’s support for individuals with sensory needs and anxiety is incredibly inspiring,” said Colin Neale, Principal Business Development Manager at Wireless Logic. “Ensuring every Cubbie is available to alleviate distress and support stretched resources in education, healthcare and beyond is critical. Conexa’s robust and flexible connectivity is not only meeting these needs but also helping Cubbie simplify manufacturing and distribution and learn from its data to inform ongoing product innovation.”
Conexa supports simpler, more cost-efficient manufacturing and distribution through a single SIM type that can go into every hub, regardless of where they are being sent and which MNO they will connect to when they get there. This, combined with reduced demand on Cubbie staff to manage day-to-day reliability, will free up time and resource so Cubbie can make more use of insights into usage and effectiveness. With over-the-air update capabilities, Conexa SIMs also automate manual processes like software updates and fault identification, further enhancing operational efficiency.
“We are proud to partner with Cubbie as it continues its mission to create a society that is more accessible for everyone,” added Neale.
