Two core health and care solutions from Advanced included on the new framework
NHS Digital has announced that Advanced has been awarded a place on its new GP IT Futures framework, which will run until 2023. The framework is designed to help primary care achieve the requirements set out in the NHS Long Term Plan as well as the five-year framework for GP contract reform. Advanced’s electronic document management and workflow solution, Docman, has been included on the framework, as well as its flagship clinical decision support technology, Odyssey.
This framework will replace the GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) agreement that is due to expire on 31 December 2019.
In order to help GP practices save time when managing up to 500 clinical documents per day, many of which are received in various formats from numerous care providers, the clinical electronic document management solution Docman will create a paperless environment which is fully traceable. It supports staff with their digital strategy to process, share and store electronic documents securely. Critically, as a Cloud-based solution which uses the secure and approved N3/HSCN network, Docman is designed to support staff who work remotely, making it easy and safe to access clinical correspondence.
The addition of Odyssey GP to the framework offers GP surgeries the ability for non-clinical staff to triage patients, complementing new work that Advanced is involved in around reception triage. This is focused on reducing the pressure on already over-stretched resources within GP surgeries whilst giving patients the fastest resolution time possible.
Odyssey is designed to support primary care and urgent care assessment of clinical needs, either in person or remotely. It is already used by clinical and non-clinical trained staff at many urgent care providers in the UK, and other areas of the world, to triage patients across a variety of services, including national help lines (such as in New Zealand), ambulance services, and in-hours GP services. The system has a unique approach in which it prompts users to narrow down presenting symptoms into triage outcomes and suggests next steps, for example referral or self-care. The solution was renewed earlier this year on the NICE Accreditation Programme, for a further five years to January 2023. Being accredited by NICE, users of Odyssey have high confidence in the quality of guidance to support their role.
“We absolutely support NHS Digital and the NHSX’s goals to provide GPs and their staff with the best possible digital tools and services. Having our clinical software solutions included in this framework is testament to the high standards we constantly strive to achieve. We know they can alleviate some of the pressures that our GP surgeries face every single day, as well as ensure that data is shared more effectively across our healthcare systems. Digital innovations in the way medical data is used and shared are critical in ensuring our healthcare staff can deliver to patients the best possible care and advice as soon as it is needed,” commented Ric Thompson, Managing Director – Health and Care – at Advanced.
The award is subject to successful completion of the assurance process, which will be finalised shortly.
