A fresh new look for a charity focused on the future

Hampshire Hospitals Charity has today unveiled a fresh new look which will help it grow much needed funds to improve the wellbeing and support of patients and staff in the hospitals it serves.

The bright new designs move away from the traditional rainbow that was adopted by NHS charities during the pandemic and heralds a vision for the future where they pledge to help elevate healthcare for local people and create a happier, healthier Hampshire.

Speaking on the day the new look was revealed, head of charity Mark Hainy said: “This fresh new look reflects the ambitions that we have here at Hampshire Hospitals Charity to elevate healthcare across the local community. It’s bright and inviting and that’s exactly what we want to bring to people’s experiences of hospitals. We know that people are often visiting at difficult times and hospitals can be scary places for some, so we’re all about creating an atmosphere that’s inclusive and welcoming to all our patients, visitors and staff.”

The charity, established in 2012 when the hospitals combined into one trust, serves the communities of Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and the surrounding areas enhancing care and improving staff wellbeing. In recent years it has funded wellbeing gardens for patients and visitors, a sensory room for young patients and a relatives room for a patient’s loved ones to find peace and privacy, among other important additions to each of the hospitals.

To achieve all of this, the charity needs to raise around £1million each year and is supported by generous local people, including many staff who take part in activities throughout the year to raise money to improve their working environment for the benefit of colleagues, patients and visitors.

Mark continued: “Our community is incredible. They’re always coming up with different ways to raise money for the charity to support the work we do. Many of them have first-hand experience of hospital care and use fundraising for us as a way of thanking the teams who looked after them and, in turn, helping to make the experience for future patients even better. We really couldn’t do what we do without all their support and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who raises money for Hampshire Hospitals Charity. It really is you that makes the difference.”

To celebrate the launch, the charity is honouring its staff with their annual Big Tea event – a way to celebrate the people that make it all happen and thank them for the care they deliver to patients. The charity funds the events which take place across at all three hospitals to offer staff a few minutes rest a relaxation during a busy shift with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. The celebrations also coincide with the NHS’s 76 birthday which takes place on Friday 5 July.
