NHS Survey results to help drive further improvements at Hampshire Hospitals

Results from a recent national staff survey show staff at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) feel trusted to do their job effectively, following another year of sustained pressures on services.

The NHS Staff Survey is run annually across the country, inviting members of staff to answer questions about what it is like to work in the NHS and at their Trust.

The survey measures the experiences of staff based on the seven themes within the NHS People Promise, as well as overall engagement and morale. NHS trusts are then given individual results and a breakdown by department, staff group and protected characteristics.

Hampshire Hospitals, which runs hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, improved or matched its score in eight of the nine theme areas, with ‘compassion and inclusivity’ the highest scoring theme. The Trust also saw a statistically significant improvement in the themes ‘we are recognised and rewarded’, ‘we are always learning’ and ‘morale’.

Alex Whitfield, chief executive at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “In what has been another challenging year for the NHS, our staff at Hampshire Hospitals have worked brilliantly to continue our mission of providing outstanding care for every patient.

“The results of the NHS Staff Survey provide us with valuable insights into people’s experiences of working at Hampshire Hospitals, including feedback around where we are getting it right and where we aren’t doing as well as we would like. We are grateful to all colleagues who have taken the time to tell us about their experiences of working here at the Trust – their voice is so important in creating a workplace where our people can thrive and be at their best.

“We are analysing all the results in detail so that we can take action in areas that will make the biggest difference – we know that we can always do more to ensure Hampshire Hospitals is the best possible workplace for all our staff.”
